By our Being Prepared by B&W|letter dated May 18, 1983]] (OCAN058304), AP&L indicated that a revised report concerning the impact of NUREG-0630 was being prepared by B&W. The report now reflects the use of the FLECSET heat transfer correlation as a compensating model to reduce the impact of the NUREG-0630 models. The report is attached for your information.
As indicated by our previous letter, the FLECSET results offset the potential linear heat rate penalty et the 2 foot and 4 foot elevations. as .
indicated by the NUREG-0630 bounding analysis. Althoughthisanalysisidid; not conclusively demonstrate that the potential NUREG-0630 impact at the 6 foot level was completely offset, such an impact would not result in a change in the plant operating limits since these limits are governed by the lower core elevations.
Justification for the use of FLECSET, via benchmarks to experimental data and comparative sensitivity studies, will be provided by August 1983, to supplement the bases for the results provided in the attached report.
