Exercise Report for the April 30-May 1, 1986, Exercise of the Offsite Radiological Emergency Preparedness (REP)

Plans for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant Attached is a copy of the Exercise Report for the April 30-May 1, 1986, full participation joint exercise of the offsite REP plans for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant. 'Ihe State of Georgia and Burke County and Aiken, Allendale, and Barnwell Counties in South Carolina, all located in the 10-mile plume emergency planning zone, fully participated in the exercise. 'Ihe State of South Carolina partially participated in the exercise.

The exercise report, dated Septanber 19, 1986, was prepared by Region IV of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). There were no deficiencies or areas requiring corrective actions identified during this exercise. There wre, however, several areas recmmended for inprovement.

Based on the results of this exercise, there is reasonable assurance that the State of Georgia and Burke County, and the State of South Carolina and Aiken, Allendale, and Barnwell Counties can take adequate measures to protect the health and safety of the public in the event of a radiological emergency at the site.

FEMA Region IV staff has furnished a copy of this exercise report to the State of South Carolina and the State of Georgia and will follow up with the States regarding the areas reconmended for inprovement.
