Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and '2 Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414 Technical Specification Amendment Fire Protection Requirements

Dear Sirs:

By letters dated August 28, 1987 and October 20, 1987, Technical Specification changes were requested which would remove all fire protection requirements from the Technical Specifications.

The NRC Staff subsequently issued Generic Letter 88-12 on August 2, 1988.

Generic Letter 88-12 provided guidance for the preparation of license amendment requests involving the relocation of fire protection requirements out of Technical Specifications.

Please be advised that we are currently assessing the changes required to our previous submittals in order to be consistent with Generi Letter 88-12. We anticipate updating our previous submittals and therefore any review effort on these previous submittals should be suspended.

If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact Mr. Roger Quellette at (704) 373-7530.

Very truly yours, e h 1 . B. Tuc er i
