TWO WORKERS INJURED ,

Two workers were injured on November 11, 1987, when an oiler on a feedwater block valve exploded in the Turbine Building. The plant is shut down for maintenance.

The workers were observing the valve operation when they were struck by flying metal fragments from the oiler, a device used on.a compressed air line to remove contaminants from the air and add oil to the equipment. One individual was taken to a local hospital and

-later transferred to a Kalamazoo, Michigan, hospital for surgery to remove a fragment froa his cheek. The second worker was treated at the plant.

The licensee is investigating the cause of the explosion.

The State of Michigan will be informed.

Region III (Chicago) was informed of this incident at 9 a.m. (CST) on November 12, 1987.
