_This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance. The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is,known by,IE staff as of this date.
Facility:
Consumers Power Company, Palisades (DN50-255), Covert,MI
Subject:
TELEPHONIC THREAT An anonymous threatening telephone call was received at the site at-1 5:37 p.m. on July 17, 1977. The caller stated, "I'm going to shoot the hell out of this place tonight."
Because of this threat, site management notified the Michigan State

Police and the Sheriffs' Offices of Van Buren and Berrien Counties.
i The Region III Resident Inspector, who had been informed of the threat, notified the FBI at Benton Harbor, Michigan. Additional e.
O.i guards were added to the evening and night shifts and patrol frequency was increased.
