UNPLANNED SHUTDOWN IN EXCESS OF 48 HOURS On September 29, 1986, at 12:55 a.m. the licensee commenced a shutdown of Peach Bottom Unit 2 following a discovery of water leakage into the main turbine Electro Hydraulic Control (EHC) oil system. The licensee suspects a turbine stop valve leak entering an oil drip pan as the source of water in-leakage.
As of 8:00 a.m. September 30, 1986, Unit 2 was in cold shutdown at 150*F. A return to service is not expected for approximately five days following a final determination of the in-leakage source and EHC oil system flushes.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been informed.
