Attachment 5 I. Description of the Verification Process The NPD Nuclear Engineering Group Reactor Safety Section verified the SPDS logic. Each logic element on e ch diagram was reviewed according to the following criteria:

1. Correctness and completeness of input

2. Correctness of combinatorial logic Each logic diagram was reviewed against the following criteria:

1. Accuracy in representing the corresponding status tree

2. Completeness and consistency of signal indication such that some indication is always present and that normal (green) and abnormal (some other color) are not simultaneously present.

3. Satisfaction of all safety functions (green indication) during normal plant transients which go as planned, e.g.

startups, and during ordinary reactor trips II. Summary of Results since verification comments were incorporated continuously during the logic generation process, the resulting logic diagrams are applicable for both.

_III. Listing of Applicable Correspondence Since logic generation and verification were performed as a continuous interactive process, it is difficult to separate the relevant correspondence into generation versus verifica-tion lists. Therefor the list given below is applicable to both.
