UNPLANNED SHUTDOWN DUE TO LOSS OF EMERGENCY SERVICE WATER At 8:09 a.m. on June 18, 1986, the licensee commenced to shutd wn Peach Bottom Unit 2 du2 to a leak in the unit's Emergency S2rvice Water System (ESW). Permanent repair of the 1:ak requires isolating a key portion of the ESW System which could only be done while the plant is shutdown. The unit was scrammed per procedure at 10:05 a.m., and the 1sak was stopped by installing a pipe clamp. The ESW system was returned to s;rvice and the U ual Event was terminated at 10:10 a.m. The licensee plans to
- cintinue plant coo down, inspect the Erl piping and make permanent repairs prior to starting up Unit 2.
Th2 licensee has made a press release. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been n:tified.
