UNIT SHUTDOWNS DOCKET NO: 50-328 UNIT NAME: SQN-2 DATE: August 6, 2002 COMPLETED BY: Renee McKaig TELEPHONE: (423) 843-8963 REPORT PERIOD: JULY 2002 No. Date Type Duration Reason1 Method of Cause and Corrective Action to Prevent Recurrence F:Forced (Hours) Shutting S:Scheduled Down Reactor2 1 020712 F 49.1 A 3 Unit 2 experienced a reactor trip on July 12 at 2223 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT),

resulting from a reactor coolant pump undervoltage condition initiating the reactor trip. The cause of the event was the failure of the alternate feeder breaker for Start Bus 2B to function properly when being returned to its normal configuration. A diagnostic of the breaker is being performed and will be repaired or replace as necessary.

Summary: Unit 2 experienced a reactor trip on July 12 and was returned to service on July 14. Unit 2 capacity factor for July was 91.3 percent. No PORVs or safety valves were challenged in July. A design change has been implemented on Unit 2 increasing the Design Electrical Rating and the Maximum Dependable Capacity.
