3) Serial Hove-79-79, dated March 9, 1979 In accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.55(e), this letter constitutes an interim report on the status of co=ponent qualification test documentation re-review.

The referenced letters provided a description of the reportable condition and of the administrative procedure by which the Bechtel re-review is being performed. The enclosure to this letter provides a current status of the Bechtel re-review.

B&W has submitted a qualification test status report similar to the enclosed Bechtel report. Initial reviews by CPCo indicate that discrepancies may exist similar to those found in the procurements nade by Bechtel. A trip is planned to B&W, Lynchburg, during which more qualification test documentation vill be reviewed. Based upon this further review, it will be decided what actions are necessary.

1e Project engineering has completed the initial review of prevwmy accepted qualification documents. This review identified 71 purchase orders with questionable areas. To date, 37 of the 71 orders containing questionable areas have been resolved by further engineering or vendor coordination.

2. Quality control at the jobsite has issued 51 nonconforcance reports to identify and centrol the indeterminate, Q-listed material located at the jobsite. Five of these NCRs have been closed. The remainin7, NCRs are being dispositioned.
3. Coordinatien ::cetings which were held to. resolve any questionable arcas noted during the re-review and docu=ented on the QTR form are now cocplete. Engineering is continuing to coordinate questienable areas with the respective suppliers for resolution or positive identification of any deficiencies. To date, only the Foxboro transir.itters (previously identified), were unable to ccet qualificatu.n requirements.
4. The engineering departcent project instruction (EDPI 4.25.1) on ,!

internal design interface centrol has been revisec' to increase '

interface and review requirements for qualification type  !

documentation. The procedure is scheduled to be issued in May 1979.

5. The current issue of the qualification test status report, revision 7. {

dated 4/6/79, is attached. The QTSR provides' pertincnt information  !
