Re: Docket No. 50-482

'

Ref: Interim Report Transmitted via GLKoester letter to WCScidle dated January 24, 1980

Dear Mr. Seidle:

The referenced construction deficiency report concerning concrete block walls in the control building at Wolf Creek was previously submitted to your of fice pursuant to 10CFR50.55(e) . A description of the deficiency, an analysis of the safety implications, and details of the initial cor-rective actions proposed or taken were included in the interim report.

This letter provides an update on the status of actions completed or now being taken in regard to tb 1 concrete block walls. All affected walls as identified in Nonconformance Report 1NN-1536-C have been removed with the exception of the main east-west wall and its connecting duct chase located on column line C-5 at elevation 1984'-0 and the main east-west wall and its connecting duct chase located adjacent to column line C-5 at elevation 2000'-0. Bechtel is presently analyzing these two walls in order to determine if their replacement is necessary. Reconstruction of,the removed concrete block walls is being controlled by a work procedure which provides for engineering inspection and documentation of acceptance.

Completion of the rework associated with this construction deficiency is currently scheduled for July 1,1980. At that time a final report will be prepared and submitted or, if further work remains, an update on the program will be made.

In the interim, please advise if you need additional inforTnation.

.

Sincerely, g,* . 5 d
