Mr. R.P. Denise, Director Wolf Creek Task Force U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Cmunission Region IV 611 Ryan Plaza Drive, Suite 1000 Arligton, Texas 76011 KMINRC 85-020 Re: Docket No. STN 50-482 Ref: Interim Ibport KMLNic 84-024, dated 3/1/84 From GLKoester, KG&E, to JEGagliardo, NRC Subj: Final 10CFR50.55(e) Report - Water Damaged Limitorque Operators (53564-K121)

Dear Mr. Denise:

tis letter provides the final report subnitted prusuant to 10CFR50.55(e) concernig water danaged limitorque motor operators at Wolf Creek Generating Station (NCGS) . %is matter was initially reported on February 3, 1984 with supplemental information provided in the Reference.

%e investigation described in the reference concluded that the described flooding was the result of leakage during systen flushing and hydrostatic testing activities. Subsequently, additional direction was given to all Startup Test Emineers and Shift Test Supervisors to examine any motor operators whose exterior was exposed to water for signs of interior water accunulation. Any discrepancies identified were corrected in accordance with established procedures.

Due to the possibility of water impingenent on limitorque motor operator limit switch compartments inside contairrnent, seals were added inside the flexible cordult routed to the operators and T-drains were verified to be installed in the lowest point of the operator.

%e aforementioned actions will preclude any accunulation of water within the limit switch canpartments. %ese actions have now been completed. If you have any questions corrernim this matter, please contact me or Mr. Otto Maynard of my staff.

Yours very truly,

/
