Dear Mr. Taylor:

Please fino enclosed an inspection procedure prepared for the purpose of investigating the emergency diesel generators referenced in Mr. Borman's letter to determine if a problem exists.

By copy of this procedure to each site, Louis Allis is requesting that each site's Quality Assurance Department conduct this inspection and report back to Louis Allis as described in the instructions.

Leusink The purpose of this instruction is to outline a procedure for the inspection of the emergency standby generators referenced for possible fractured or j cracked ucids.

By copy of this communication, we are requesting the site Quality Assurance Group make this inspection and to report back their findings to:

3 The procedure is as follows:

  • j i 1. Remove the protective screens from each end of the generator coil guards as indicated on the attached Sketch A.

2, 2. Inspect the fillet veld securing the conical air deflector 5* that is velded to the three piece coil guards. The air deflector is secured to the coil guard by a 3/16" fillet veld,1" long on centers of 4". There sill be approximately
