Hollow Metal Fire Door Frame Installation (53564-K140)
Dear Mr. Denise:
The purpose of this letter is to provide a supplemental final report submitted pursuant to 10CFR50.55(e) concerning the installation of three-hour rated (Class A) hollow metal fire door frames at Wolf Creek Generating Station (WCGS). This matter was initially reported on May 25, 1984 and a final report was submitted in the Reference.
The Reference indicated the following:
(Kansas Gas and Electric Company) KG&E has elected to replace the existing combustible caulking surrounding all Class A hollow metal fire door frames with an approved flame retardent adhesive sealant...
In order to more accurately reflect the actions taken by KG&E, the afore-mentioned statement is revised as follows:
... KG&E had actually elected to replace the existing caulking surrounding all Class A hollow metal fire door frames that provide a three-hour fire rated barrier separating all safe shutdown equipment, as required by 10CFR50 Appendix R, with an approved flame retardent adhesive sealant.
