Dear Mr.Tedesco:

Please find attached our response to the Reference 1, Section 9.2.5 (pg.9-15)concern regarding the lack of tornado missile protection for the, essential spray pond spray nozzles.A meeting was held between the NRC and APS on December 8, 1981 discussing this concern.It was agreed at that meeting that APS would (1)formally submit the probabilistic risk assessment of tornado missile damage to the PVNGS ultimate heat sink and (2)provide a description of how the plant.could adequately pro-vide core cooling assuming loss of the UHS.Enclosure 1 is'a probabilistic risk assessment of tornado missile damage to the PVNGS ultimate heat sink, Bechtel Study No.13-NS-108. is a des-cription of extended/alternate sources of auxiliary feedwater for PVNGS.Please contact me if you have additional questions.
