Letter to t'e NRC from W. F.
- Conway, APS, dated October 24, 1989;
Subject:
Reload Safety Analysis Report for Unit 2, Cycle 3 (161-02524).
Dear Sirs:
Subj ect:
Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS)
Unit 2 Revision to Reload Analysis Report
- Unit 2, Cycle 3
File: 90-056-026 Attached is a revision to the Unit 2, Cycle 3 Reload Analysis Report, which was originally transmitted in the referenced letter.
The revision is required to reflect the early end-of-cycle unit shutdown and. the replacement of eight (8) new fuel assemblies.
This revision includes changes to Sections 1,
2, and 3,
pages 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2, 3-4, 3-5 and 5-1.
The replacement of the fuel assemblies is necessary due to damage incurred by a Unit 1, Cycle 3
new assembly.
'+e original eight Unit 2 assemblies were inserted in Unit 1, Cycle 3 to allow for reconstitution of the damaged assembly.
The eight assemblies from Unit 1, Cycle 3, including the reconstituted
- assembly, willbe used in Unit 2, Cycle 3.
The replacement fuel assemblies are essentially identical to the original, Unit 2, Cycle 3 assemblies.
Applicable portions of the safety analysis were re-performed, explicitly considering the new replacement fuel assembly characteristics and the early end-of-cycle shutdown of 392.7 EFPD.
The safety analysis results remained bounded by those results reported in the Unit 2, Cycle 3 Reload Analysis Report.
