Dear Mr. DeBlieux:

The discovery of a plantation era sugar mill on our River Bend Station property near St. Francisville in West Feliciana Parish was reported to your Office and to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Since there was a question concerning the National Register Criteria, the NRC indicated that we should prepare a request for determination of elibility in accordance with Titic 36 Code of Federal Regulations Part 63.

One of the categories of information to accompany requests for determination is the opinion of the State Historic Preservation Officer.

We ask that you review the report (Attachment 1) prepared for us by Dr.

Malcolm Shuman and Dr. Charles Orser, and provide a statement of your opinion concerning the eligibility. If you wish, you may use the form provided (Attachment 2).

Thank you for giving the matter your attention. If you have any questions contact our Mr. James Cook at (409) 838-6631 extension 2283.

Sincerely, a fr J. E. Booker Manager - Engineering Nuclear Fuels & Licensing River Bend Nuclear Group JEB//JWC/je
