McGaha, Vice President River Bond Nuclear Group Dear Mr. McGaha Subjocts Use of Calgon H-130M for Zebra Mussel control This office has received and reviewad the letter dated October 13, 1993, submitted by you on behalf of Gulf States Utilities River Bend Station. We have no objection to the use of the Calgon product H-130M, EPA Registration NO. 6836-203 as proposed.
It is our understanding that GSU will conduct an initial one day treatment of the intake water pipeline using Calgon H-130M before the end of 1993. Any residual H-130M resulting from the treatment of intake water will be removed to below detection 11mit of 10 ppb at the clarifiers with river silt.
The clarifier effluent is then transferred to the cooling tower system and-eventually returned to the Mississippi River discharging via Outfall 001.
All other existing terms and conditions of LWDPS Permit WPO409 shall remain-in effect until renewal of the permit.
