This letter,- as were the referenced letters, ic an interim 50 55(e) report concerning the overstressed condition in letdown cooler supports.

The manufacturer and B&W are in the. process of analyzing the letdown cooler supports based on the actual nozzle loads supplied by the Architect / Engineer.

The result of the analyses are expected to be available by the beginning of November. Once 'these loads are' available, the Architect / Engineer vill analy::e the existing support to determine' the extent of the modification required. Within the month of_ December, we should be able to define whether

'a major redesign .of the support is-necessary or if a minor modification, such as was shown to Mr R N Sutphin during his August 19-22 Midland Site inspection,

is all.that_is' required.

.

-lAnother report, either interim or final, vill be sent on or before December 30, 1980.
