LICENSE RENEWAL - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (TAC NO. L10079)

Dear Dr. Reda:

This refers to your application dated April 5, 1996, requesting renewal of Materials License SNM-1097. Our review of your Chapter 10 " Environmental Protection" program has identified additional information and clarifications that are needed before further action can be taken on your renewal.

The additional information should be provided in the form of responses to the individual ccmments, as appropriate, and as revised pages to the application, (a submittal by May 27, 1997, Would be helpful). As we have agreed, we look forward to meeting with you on May 20 to discuss GE's intended response to this Request for Additional Information (as well as our May 6,1997 request).

Satisfactory resolution of this request is essential to the timely renewal of your license and authorization of the new Dry Conversion Process. Please reference the above TAC no. in future correspondence related to the renewal request.

-for 1995-1997 for the Northeast _ Cape Fear. River, including data taken at the site dock, upstream, and downstream from the site discharge point.

(Please include actual measurements and error estimates, not annual i averages). l

2. Please indicate how analysis data below the minimum detectable l concentration (MDC) is reported. For example, is the number reported as zero, the number itself, or the MDC?

3. Are sediment samples taken at the discharge point to the Northeast Cape ~

l Fear River? If so, please' provide the data for 1990-1997.
