. CENTRAL STORAGE BASINS (TAC NO. L31010)
This is in response to your letter dated August 25. 1997, concerning-decommissioning of the calcium fluoride central storage basins at your facility. In _that letter, you stated that your notification under 10'CFR 70.38 that the central storage area had been inactive for greater than 24 months was inappropriate due to its location within the final waste' '
treatment area identified in License SNM-1097. You stated that the final
-waste treatment area which is currently in use, is bounded by a fence, has-restricted access and is controlled as a single entity. This area is
-identified as a discrete area within the plant's operating procedures-and Is-monitored as part of the environmental protection plan. You also indicated that you have initiated remedial operations to relocate the calcium fluoride in this area to covered storage and have estimated completion of the project in early- 19_98.
The NRC staff agrees with your determination that the calcium fluoride central
' storage area was improperly identified under 10 CFR 70.38. and therefore, your

WITHDRAWAL OF INACTIVE-STATUS OF THE CALCIUM FLUORIDE CENTRAL STORAGE BASINS (TAC NO. L31010)
This is in response to your letter dated August 25, 1997. concerning decommissioning of the calcium fluoride central storage basins ai your facility. In that letter, you stated that your notification under 10 CFR 70.38 that the central storage area had been inactive for greater than 24 months was inappropriate due to its location within the final waste treatment araa ider,tified in License SNM-1097. You stated that the final waste treatrient area, which is currently in use, is bounded by a fence, has restricted t.ccess and is controlled as a single entity. This area is ,
identified as a discrete area within the plant's operating procedures and is meritored as part of the environmental protection plan. You also indicated that you have initiated remedial operations to relocate the calcium fluoride in this area to covered storage and have estimated completion of the project in early 1998.
The NRC staff agrees with your determination that the calcium fluoride central storage area was improperly identified under 10 CFR 70.38 and therefore, your -
