2. Please indicate how analysis data below the minimum detectable concentration (MDC) is reported. For example, is the number reported as zero, the number itself or the MDC7 i

Minimum detectable concentration (MDC) is described in the 1989 Environmental Report page 5-37 and further methods related information is on page 5-9. The same approach was used in the 1996 Environmental Supplement. Page 23 describes the approach. Exhibit E-3 lists methodology information.

3. Are sediment samples taken at the discharge point to the Northeast Cape Fear River?

Ifso, please provide the datafor 1990-1997. Sediment samples are not routinely taken and analyzed by General Electric. Sediment samples are taken in conjunction with the NC Radiation Protection Division's split sampling program. Sample results for onsite and offsite sediment samples (1983-1988) are shown on Table 5-8 (page 5-46) in the 1989 Environmental Report (Please note that Table 5-8 of the 1989 Environmental Report shows the units as pCill, however, the cara ect units are expressed as

Locations were process basin discharge (#1), site dam (#2), downstream in the Northeast Cape Fear River at GE Dock (#3), upstream in the Northeast Cape Fear River at Castle Hayne boat dock (#4), onsite at a location where the i Effluent Channel goes under the road - after the site dam (#21), and the location where the western terminus of the Effluent Channel connects to the Northeast Cape Fear River (#22). Additional sample results (1989-1994) were shown in Exhibit 20 of the 1996 Environmental Supplement. Samples were taken at locations #1,3, and 4 as listed above. Ifso, please provide the datafor 1990-1997. Sediment samples are not routinely taken and analyzed by General Electric. Sediment samples are taken in conjunction with the NC Radiation Protection Division's split sampling program. Sample results for onsite and offsite sediment samples (1983-1988) are shown on Table 5-8 (page 5-46) in the 1989 O Environmental Report (Please note that Table 5-8 of the 1989 Environmental Report shows the units as pCi/1, however, the correct units are expressed as
