Letter to NRC from GE Nuclear Energy, Dated 12/29/98 Pursuant to Reference 2, page 4, " Required Response:", item (3), GE's Nuclear Energy Production facility in Wilmington, N. C. hereby submits the status of our Y2K readiness program for our facility as required to be submitted by 7/1/99.
In ou~ letter dated 12/29/98, we identified six computer systems that may affect licensed activi:ies and require additional testing or modification to mitigate the impact of Y2K events. We are pleased to report that the work required for the first five of these systems has been completed. Work on the sixth system, titled "LMCS - Lab Measurement Control", is in the final stages and will be completed by 8/31/99. As o result, implementation of the contingency plan for this system is not anticipated to be necessary.
Our facility continues to implement an effective plan to address potential Y2K issues and provide safe operations in compliance with our USNRC Materials License.
