Dear Sir:

In the matter of Duke Power Company, Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414, Duke Power Company intends to file an amendment to the application for permits to construct anl licenses to operate the Catawba Nuclear Station, Units I and 2, which will request authorization to operate each unit for a period of 40 years at power levels up to 3411 MWt. Accordingly, we are forwarding to you for a completeness review, pursuant to 10CFR 2.101(a) and 50.30(c), the following material:

Fifteen copies of the Final Safety Analysis Report for the
