SUMMARY

OF THE April 24, 2008, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE BYRON STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On April 24, 2008, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Byron Station Training Center in Byron, IL. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and Exelon Generation Company management to discuss the NRC=s assessment of the safety performance of Byron Station, Units 1 and 2, for the period from January 1 through December 31, 2007. The meeting notice and NRC presentation can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML080720690 and ML081150649, respectively. A list of principal NRC and licensee meeting participants can be found in the Enclosure.

The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC=s Reactor Oversight Program (ROP), national ROP results, and the Action Matrix in general. This was followed by a discussion of the NRC=s assessment of the performance of Byron Station, Units 1 and 2, in calendar year 2007, which was documented in the March 3, 2008, End-Of-Cycle assessment letter, as ML080600260. As part of this regulatory performance meeting, Exelon briefly responded to the NRC=s assessment. At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials.
