OF OCTOBER 6, 2022, CLOSED PRESUBMITTAL MEETING BETWEEN THE U. S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND CONSTELLATION ENERGY GENERATION, LLC, REGARDING TRANSITION TO FRAMATOME FUEL (EPID L-2022-LRM-0071)
On October 6, 2022, a closed meeting was held between the staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Constellation Energy Generation LLC (Constellation), via TEAMS meeting application. The purpose for this meeting was for Constellation to brief the NRC staff on a future request to transition the Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2, and the Byron Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2, to Framatome GAIA fuel.

Summary Constellation provided an overview of the Byron and Braidwood Stations pertinent plant design, described the GAIA fuel design and differences from the current fuel, described the GAIA fuel operating experience, and identified the safety analysis that will be impacted by the transition.
The NRC staff asked questions and provided comments on the information provided.
There were no final determinations or regulatory decisions made by the NRC staff during the meeting.
