SUMMARY
OF THE JUNE 1, 2023, PUBLIC OUTREACH TO DISCUSS THE NRC 2022 END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT OF BRAIDWOOD STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2; AND BYRON STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 On June 1, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (CDT), an information meeting with a question and answer session was held by representatives of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to provide the public with information on the 2022 End-of-Cycle plant performance assessment of Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2; and Byron Station, Units 1 and 2, along with general information on the NRC. The open house was held via webinar. The NRC representatives discussed plant performance with members of the public in attendance at this meeting, and state and local government officials listed in the attached enclosure.
The NRC discussed their assessment of the Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2, as documented in the March 1, 2023, End-of-Cycle Assessment Letter (ADAMS Accession Number ML23054A316), and the Byron Station, Units 1 and 2, as documented in the March 1, 2023, End-of-Cycle Assessment Letter (ADAMS Accession Number ML23054A457) during the public outreach. Representatives from the NRC made links to those letters, inspection reports, fact sheets and brochures, and other public documents available to those in attendance. The presentation for this webinar is available in ADAMS, Accession Number ML23163A164. At the end of the open house, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff.
