SUMMARY

OF APRIL 7, 2022, MEETING BETWEEN THE U. S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND CONSTELLATION ENERGY GENERATION, LLC, REGARDING PERFORMANCE MONITORING OF PRESSURIZER WELDS (EPIDS L-2022-LRR-0035 AND 0036)

On April 7, 2022, an observation meeting was held between the staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Constellation Energy Generation LLC (Constellation, the licensee), via the Microsoft TEAMS meeting application. The purpose for this meeting was for the NRC staff to ask additional questions regarding Constellations plans for performing performance monitoring of pressurizer welds.

The meeting was published on the NRCs public web page on April 6, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML22096A315). No handout material was provided.

A list of meeting attendees/affiliations is provided as an Enclosure to this meeting summary.

Summary The NRC staff asked questions to further understand Constellations plans regarding how unacceptable indications would cause increased sampling of welds. Constellation stated that any new unacceptable indications identified by the performance monitoring plan at the Byron Station (Byron), Unit No. 2, will result in the same population of welds being examined at Byron, Unit No. 1, and Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2, during the next regularly scheduled refueling outage.

There were no final determinations or regulatory decisions made by the NRC staff during the meeting.

Public Participation Members of the public were in attendance. Public Meeting Feedback forms were not received.
