Gentlemen:

On July 15, 1987, we verbally notified your Mr. Ian Barne's of a deficiency involving ' inadequate electrical isolation between the Class 1E Containment .

High ' Range Radiation Monitors and non-Class 1E Radiation Monitors (supplied by i

.Sorrento Electronics) on the communication loop. The Class 1E to non-Class 1E-interface does not' meet the requirements of IEEE-384 (1974) and Regulatory .

Guide 1.75, Rev. 1. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable j item under the provision of 10CFR50.55(e).

Our evaluation'of this issue is continuing. We expect to-submit our next L- repert by November 23, 1987.
