DOCKET NOS. 50-446 BORG-WARNER MANUALLY OPERATED 3" GATE VALVES SDAR CP-92-016 (FINAL REPORT)

Gentlemen:

On September 11, 1992, via facsimile, TV Electric notified the NRC of_ a reportable defect concerning two manually-operated 3" gate valves. 1he stems had sepa ated from the disks which remained tightly wedged in the seats. The last report, logged TXX-92471, dated October __13,_1992, stated that further corrective actions were being evaluated and that a supplemental-letter would be provided within sixty days, it has now been determined that additional administrative controls will be implemented to prevent inadvertent damage during valve operation and additional operator awareness training will be conducted prior _to Unit 2 fuel load. Documentation concerning this reportable defect is available onsite for NRC review.
