REF:

TV Electric letter logged TXX 92377 from William J. Cahill, Jr.

to the NRC, dated August 14, 15?2 Gentlemen:

On June 18, 1992, TV Electric discovered a deviation in several spare ferro resonant transformers drawn from the warehouse that could cause an o

unacceptable total harmonic distortion (THD'

',n the output of the Westinghouse 7.5 kva inverters.

The referenced letter to NRC provided the interim report on this subject which stated that the evaluation would be complete by October 30, 1992:

The evaluation is now complete which has determined that the operation and reliability of the above ir.verters are essentially independent of the magnitude of THD.

The deviation was due to a THD measurement of 5.6% which exceeded the criterion in the Westinghouse Equipment Specification for a THD of less than or. equal to 5.0% at low inverter loads, it is now expected that an inverter with THD as high as 15% in it's output would continue to 03008D
