ATTACHMENT CABLE TRAY HANGER REVERIFICATION PROGRAM DESCRIPTION In order to assess the significance of earlier concerns regarding design and construction adequacy, a field verification and inspection progrdm has been initiated for cable tray hangers. Using this as-built information, an analysis would be performed to attest and revalidate the structural integrity of the support system. A recent review of field efforts has identified discrepancies and inconsistencies which, if undetected, could invalidate the analysis.

The concern is applicable to Unit 1.

SUMMARY

OF EVENTS Date Discovered: November 27, 1985 by Corrective Action Request (CAR)-053 Date Identified as Potentially Reportable: December 17, 1985 Date Determined Reportable: December 18, 1985 Date NRC Notified as Reportable: December 18, 1985 SAFETY IMPLICATION In the event this condition had remained undetected, the support of electrical conductors essential to safe plant operation could not be assured.

CORRECTIVE ACTION Verification and inspection activities will be reperformed. These actions will be accomplished by personnel recently trained in appropriate program documents. These actions and the associated analysis will be completed prior to fuel load. Specific detailed corrective actions will be documented in the site-initiated CAR-053.
