PERMANENT SHUTDOWN OF THE LACROSSE BOILING WATER REACTOR----(UPDATE) l On April 27 at 10:10 a.m., the Lacrosse Boiling Water Reactor entered a 72-hour Technical Specification action statement because of an inoperable IB Shutdown Condenser Inlet Valve.

The valve as declared inoperable after it stuck partially open during post maintenance testing following repairs on a leaking control air line. The licensee plans to start reducing power from 98% on April 29 and complete the permanent shutdown on April 30, 1987.

The State of Wisconsin will be notified, i

Region III (Chicago) learned of the event at approximately 1:00 p.m. on April 28, 1987.
