SHUTDOWN FOR VALVE MAINTENANCE Unit I was shut down on July 12, 1985, for maintenance on two containment valves which had failed local leak rate testing. The two valves are the suppression pool spray valve from the "B" train of the Residual Heat Removal (RHR) system and the shutdown cooling injection valve in the "A" train of the RHR system.

The outage is expected to last until about July 22, 1985. The resident inspectors are monitoring the maintenance activities.

The State of Illinois will be notified.
