PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNO-78-10 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Subject:
CONSTRUCTION WORKER FATALITY The La Salle County Station Project Superintendent notified Region III that a 20-year old construction craft employee was fatally injured at 1:30 p.m, on January 20, 1978.
The accident occurred while operating an electric hoist (sky climber).
The operator leaned outside of the protective cage and his head struck a pipe.
The licensee reports that OSHA was notified.
