SUBJECT:

SHUTDOWN EXCEEDING 48 HOURS l The licensee entered a 24 Hour limiting condition for operation (LCO) at 6:07 a.m. (EDT) l on June '7, 1987, when an outside recirculation spray pump (B) failed a periodic surveillance test because of high vibration and low discharge pressure. An unusual event

.was declared at 12:14 a.m. on June 8, 1987 when it was determined that a shutdown was required because repairs could not be effected within the 24 Hours. The Unit is in cold shutdown this morning.

The licensee estimates that the Unit will be down until June 13.
