MEDIA INTEREST IN CONTAINMENT EVACUATION Tha NRC Resident Inspector informed Region II today that area media interest has developed in two events which occurred on November 19 and December 17 when a concentrated i hydrazine/ ammonia mixture leaked from a steam generator vent valve, forcing evacuation of personnel in the containment area.
Tha plant is under construction, and the event posed no nuclear safety problem. However, several employees complained of chest pains after breathing the fumes, and one person was briefly hospitalized with breathing difficulties, treated and released following the November 19 event. No adverse effects on personnel were reported following the December 17 occurrence.
The licensee is responding to media inquiries.
The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) has been notified.
