4 QI-037 Rev. 2 1.0 PURPOSE To provide the methods _and requirements for the visual reinspection of pipe supports by the QA/QC Inspection Team for the purpose of verifying the validity of deficiencies identified by the Technical Review Team (TRT).

2.0 APPLICABILITY This procedure is applicable to the pipe' supports identified in population items list "TRT Issues-Pipe Supports In Room 77N, Safeguard Building Unit 1."

3.0 REFERENCES

3.1 Memo QA/QC-RT-3813 to M. Obert delineating documentation used in the development of this procedure including specific sources for attributes.

4.0 GENERAL 7s(

4.1 Responsibilities A.

QA/QC Discipline Engineers The QA/QC Discipline Engineers prepare the inspection procedure delineating reinspection requirements and attributes.

B.

QA/QC Inspectors QA/QC Inspectors perform reinspection / verification in accordance with Ref. 3.2 and this inspection procedure.

The results shall be documented on checklist (Attachment 6.4).

4.2 Policy Activities performed under this procedure shall conform to the policies contained in the latest Comanche Peak Response Team Program Plan and Issue-Specific Action Plan (s).

4 NOTES: 1. 'The inspector shall indicate the inspection tools used (and serial number / calibration date when applicable) by filling in the Attachment 6.5.

The tool. codes required by Attachment 6.5 are listed on.6.

l 5.1 Support Identification 5.1.1 Verify that the support is permanently marked with the (1) support mark number.

Identification may have been accomplished by die stamping, vibro. etching or nameplate securely fastened to support structure.

5.1.2 Verify that the installed support components, mark (1) number and configuration are the same as shown on the design drawings (DWG) or component modification card (CMC). Detail dimensional checks are not a requirement for support identification purposes, however, they may be checked to the extent necessary to identify the support.

5.2 Pipe Clamp Halves Parallel 5.2.1 Verify that pipe clamps halves are parallel. For (2) acceptance criter,ta see Attachment 6.1.

5.2.2 MeasureandrecordthedimensionsshownonAttachment (2) 6.1.

5.3 Spherical Bearing Gap

5.3.1 Verify bracket / pipe clamp has installed bearing n

(3) spacers.

It is acceptable to have one spacer.

f' Record the number of spacers on each side of the spherical bearing on Attachment 6.2.

5.3.2 Verify that the resultant gap (see Attachment 6.2)

(3) between the spherical bearing and the bracket or clamp is less than the thickness of the thinnest installed spacer. Record the resultant gap to the nearest 1/32

Snubber sizes 1/4 and 1/2 are inaccessible for this inspection. When these sizes are. encountered, enter N/A on the reinspection checklist and note the snubber size in remarks. Acceptance criteria is as follows:

5.5 Pin and Bolt Locking Devices *

  • NOTE: The pins, bolts, and stuis to be inspected for locking devices are shown on Attachment 6.8.

5.5.1 Verify that cotter pins and snap rings are in place (5)

(see Attachment 6.8).

Verify all other threaded fasteners, except SA-193 and SA-325 Bolting Materials and Hilti Bolts, are provided with locking devices as shevn in the design drawing.

When not specified on DWG/ CMC the locking device will be one'of the following:
