Reactor Vessel and Internals Removal Proiect Transoortation Safety Plan (PGE-1077)

By letter dated March 31,1997 (VPN-022-97), from Stephen M. Quennoz to the Director, Office of Nuclear Materials Safety and Safeguards, Portland General Electric (PGE) applied for approval of the one-time shipment of the Trojan reactor vessel and internals package to the US Ecology radioactive waste disposal facility near Richland, Washington. To aid in the review of PGE's application, the NRC staff has requested that PGE submit a description of measures to be taken to ensure safe transport of the Trojan reactor vessel and internals package from the Trojan site, up the Columbia River by barge, to the US Ecology low level radioactive waste disposal facility on the Hanford Reservation near Richland, Washington.

The enclosed Trojan Reactor Vessel and Intern .emoval Project Transportation Safety Plan 4 (PGE-1077) provides the requested informatios.. PGE submitted the Transportation Safety Plan l I to the Oregon Office of Energy for their approval under separate cover letter. 1 A review of the material being submitted with this letter identified no proprietary information or h copied works.
