Dear Sir:

This is to inform you by telecopy of an Abnormal Occurrence that was noted on May 13, 1975, at Surry Nuclear Power Station, during the refueling of Unit 2. During the lif ting of a fuel assembly, the manipula-tor crane stopped due to overload. The subject fuel assembly was transferred to the spent fual pit for inspection. Inspection revealed an apparent small perforation in the fuel clad. Subsequent inspection revealed no additional damage to any assemblies that were adjacent to the moving assembly at the time of the incident. ,
