e e Surry Monthly Operating Report No. 99-08 Page 10 of 15 FACILITY CHANGES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE NRC APPROVAL MONTHNEAR: August 1999 DCP 93-090 Design Change Package 01/17/95 (Safety Evaluation 95-008)

Design Change Package 93-090, "CW High Level Trash Rack ReplacemenVSurry 1&2",

replaced the existing deteriorated trash racks and their supporting beams for the bays of the High Level Intake Structure.

DCP 99-048 Design Change Package 08/05/99 FS99-026 UFSAR Change Request (Safety Evaluation 99-074)

Design Change Package 99-048, "Spare 15A8 Breaker Feeding the Training Building/Surry/Unit 1", will disconnect and abandon in place the current problematic feeder cable to the Training Center and install a new feeder cable from Virginia Power's 469 power line.

TM S 1-99-007 Temporary Modification 08/05/99 (Safety Evaluation 99-075)

Temporary Modification 81-99-007 allows freeze sealing the common discharge line of two thermal relief valves of one of the Fuel Pit Coolers so that the valves can be tested to comply with the requirements of the Relief Valve Program.

FS99-036 UFSAR Change Request 08/05/99 (Safety Evaluation 99-077)

Based on the review of the dose consequences of post-LOCA Emergency Core Cooling System (ECCS) leakage in the Auxiliary Building, the allowable total leakage in some areas is being reduced to more easily demonstrate compliance with GDC 19 and 10CFR100. The UFSAR will be updated to reflect the new allowable ECCS leakage.

1998-8-017 Appendix R Change Request 08/20/99 (Safety Evaluation 99-080)

This change updates the Appendix R Report to incorporate the results of the Surry Fire Protection Integrated Review Team review and to address the findings of the Multi-Utility Assessment. The changes do not affect any structure, system, or component's operation or performance.

FS99-030 UFSAR Change Request 08/19/99 (Safety Evaluation 99-082)

As a result of the Integrated Configuration Management Project review, UFSAR Change Request FS99-030 contains corrections and clarifications to the UFSAR sections that discuss Surry's ISFSI. They include clarification of component activities, proper ordering of cask preparation descriptions, deletion of text describing cask dewatering through a drain port, and more precise characterization of available equipment. These changes are to enhance accuracy and do not affect any ISFSI system or structure, or any of its component's operation or performance.

e Surry Monthly Operating Report No. 99-08 Page 11 of 15 PROCEDURE OR METHOD OF OPERATION CHANGES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE NRC APPROVAL MONTHNEAR: August 1999 1/2-MOP-EP-001 Maintenance Operating Procedures 08/05/99 1/2-MOP-EP-002 Technical Specification Interpretation 1/2-MOP-EP-003 (Safety Evaluation 99-057, Rev. 1) 1/2-MOP-EP-004 TSl-015A Based on an integrated review of the DC system, a preliminary engineering evaluation indicates two battery chargers are required for each battery (which is more restrictive than the Technical Specifications requirement of one charger per battery). Therefore, a 24 hour2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
Administrative Clock was established in the event that a station battery charger is removed from service.

This administrative requirement will be maintained pending the results of an on-going Engineering evaluation. If it is determined two chargers are necessary, a Technical Specifications change will be initiated. If results determine one charger is necessary, the administrative requirement will be deleted. Since this administrative requirement is more restrictive than the current license requirement, an unreviewed safety question does not exist. Annunciator Response Procedures and Maintenance Operating Procedures were changed and Technical Specification Interpretation 015A was initiated to impose this technical requirement.

2-IMP-C-RC-048 Instrument Maintenance Procedure 08/18/99 (Safety Evaluation 99-081)

Instrument Maintenance Procedure 2-IMP-C-RC-048, "P-444 Pressurizer Pressure Control",

was One Time Only changed to allow the connection of an external 4-20 ma source in order to effectively calibrate the Unit 2 pressurizer heater ROBICON controller as described in the Vendor Technical Manual.
