LaSalle County Nuclear Power Station Additional Information in Response to Generic Letter 94-03, "Intergranular Stress Corrosion Cracking of Core Shrouds in Boiling  ;

Water Reactors." i NRC Dockets 50-373 and 50-374

Reference:

1) August 23,1994 letter from G. Benes to USNRC, Comed BWR response to Generic Letter 94-03, "Intergranular Stress Corrosion Cracking of Core Shrouds in Boiling Water Reactors."

The Reference 1 letter transmitted the LaSalle County Station response to NRC Generic Letter 94-03 "Integanular Stress Corrosion Cracking of Core Shrouds in Boiling Water Reactors." This letter provides additional information in regards to the  ;

inner diameter and outer diameter weld lengths that were inspected during the LaSalle County Station Unit 1 sixth refueling outage.

The entire inner diameter weld lengths for welds H1, H2, H6, H7, and H8 are inaccessible, therefore 0" were inspected. For the inner diamotor weld length of weld ,

H3, only 32" were inspected. Specifically, at the 66,156,246, and 336 degree locations, 7.5", 9.0", 8.0", and 7.5" respectively, were inspected. For the inner  ;

diameter weld lengths of welds H4 and H5, only 80" were inspected. Specifically, at l each of the 24,66,114,156,204,246,294, and 336 degree locations,10" were j inspected at each location. I The entire 650" outer diameter weld length for welds til and H3 was inspected.

For the outer diameter weld length for weld H2, only 590" of the total 650" were inspected due to LPCI Bellows interference. For.the outer diameter weld lengths for welds H4, H5, and H6, only 289" of the total 650" were inspected due to Jet Pump interferences. For the outer diameter weld length for welds H7 and H8, only 280" of the total 631" were inspected due to Jet Pump interferences.

To the best of my knowledge and belief, the statements contained above are true and correct. In some respect these statements are not based on my personal knowledge, but obtained information fumished by other Comed employees, contractor employees, and consultants. Such information has been reviewed in accordance with company practice and I believe it to be reliable.
