Docket Nos. 50 440; 50-441 Control Room Status Human Factors Review

Dear Mr. Schwencer:

In a recent conversation, your Mr. Stef ano requested an update on Perry's Control Room Status with respect to its availability for a Human Factors Review.

In a letter dated May 26, 1981, CEI provided the estimated completion dates for several criteria used by the staff to schedule a Control Room Design Review. The following infor-mation is an update of that information.

1. Overall Control Room construction is approximately 907. complete. Checkout of ESF system controls and displays is 207. complete.
2. No systems are turned over to the operating staff.
3. Normal and emergency lighting systema are installed but some design changes need to be implemented.
4. Pe rmanen t air conditioning and ventilation systems are not operational. A temporary system is currently maintaining the atmosphere,

except for some design modifications. Temporary power is being used to power some instruments; no power is available to other instruments.

6. Emergency operating procedures are not complete.

Scheduled completion is December 1982.

7. We currently have several operators who are certified on the Perry Simulator.
8. Annunciator systems are currently operational.
9. The remote shutdown panel construction is complete.
10. Not Applicable.
11. The PDA will be submitted to the staff in May 1982.
12. Control room layout, panel layout, and photo-graphs are currently available.
13. The process computer is 100% operational except for the software development. Temporary software is currently being used.

14 The majority of the control room is complete except for some temporary flooring and furniture.
