INFORMATION REGARDING INSERVICE INSPECTION RELIEF REQUESTS l NDE-005, REVISION 1, NDE-011 AND RR-001  :

NRC Question on NDE-005, Revision 1 Relief is requested from the VT-3/4 under Examination Category -

F-C, ITEM F3.00. Item F3.50 is the only item that requires a  :

-VT-4 visual examination. All other items require a VT-3 visual 3 examination. Is this a typo, or the relief being requested from ~i all items under this category? ,

IELP Response No relief is needed from the VT-4 examination requirement; ,

relief is requested from the IWF-2500-1, Item Number F3.10, F3.20, F3.30 and F3.40 VT-3 examination requirement. The drawings referenced in the conference call are included on pages 2 through 5 of this attachment.

NRC Question on NDE-011 Relief le requested from the Code-required surface examination ,

for RHA-CE009 (HBB-24-H-10-1). Is this a weld number or a line  :

number? If this is a line number, how many welds are involved, i The basis states that the design of the support restricts access  ;

for 20% of the Code-required surface. However, this does not ',

adequately describe the limitation. A more detailed description f of the limitation is necessary to complete the evaluation-IELP Response '

RHA-CE009(HBB-24-H-10-1) is the number of a support. Two )

welds are involved. The design of the support is shown on  !

the drawing included on page 6 of this attachment. l NRC Question on RR-001  !

r Relief is' requested to use the Nonmandatory Appendix A, Analysis- [

of Flaw Indications, of ASME Section XI in lieu of the acceptance l criteria of the construction code or Section III. Does this '

request apply to ferritic valves only? What is the applicable-construction code? '

IELP Response As discussed with your Staff, this relief request will be applied j only to the valve seats and guiding surfaces of ferritic valves.

The applicable code (B31.1, B31.7 or ASME Section III) will vary with the specific valve.
