NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-331,/98005(DRS)
Dear Mr. Franz:
On June 24,1999, the NRC completed an inspection at your Duane Arnold Energy Center. The
enclosed report presents the results of the inspection.
,
The purpose of the inspection was to review your Inservice inspection (ISI) program,
nondestructive examination data records and observe ISI activities. The inspector concluded
that your staff was effective in implementing the ISI program for the items reviewed. The
Program's Engineering staff was knowledgeable and involved in the ISI program. An overall
strong ISI program with active oversight of contract personnel was demonstrated.
The inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records,
observations, and interviews with personnel.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its
enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection.
