DUANE ARNOLD ENERGY CENTER -ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT RE: SAFETY RELIEF VALVE SETPOINT TOLERANCE (TAC NO. MAS 472)

Dear Mr. Protsch:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No.228to Facility Operating License No. DPR-49 for the Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC). This amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications (TS) in response to your application dated April 30,1999.

The amendment revises the DAEC TS Surveillance Requirement (SR) Section 3.4.3.1,

" Safety / Relief Valves (SRVs) and Safety Valves (SVs)." The amendment allows an increase of from +1%/-3% to plus or minus 3% in the as-found SV and SRVs safety mode setpoint tolerance, determined by test after the valves have been removed from service.

A copy of the Safety Evaluation is also enclosed. Notice of issuance will be included in the Commission's next biweekly Federal Register notice.
