NRC Docket No. STN 50-482 Re Sub: Potential 50.55(e) Item ,

Incorrect Concrete Mix Used in '

Auxiliary Bef' ding Roof

Dear Mr. Seidle:

On May 28, 1980, Mr. M.E. Clark called Mr. C. Oberg at Region IV headquarters to report a potential 50.55(e) item regarding the use of the wrong concrete mix in a roof slab pour on the auxiliary building.

The correct mix has a specified strength of 5000 psi at ninety (90) days. The mix which was used consistently produces concrete that tests over 6000 psi at twenty-eight (28) days. The twenty-eight (28) day compressive strength cylinders have been tested. No cylinder broke below 6000 psi. The average strength of the twenty-eight (28) day cylinders was 6470 psi.

Because the concrete strength is substantially greater than required for the auxiliary building roof, no safety significant problem exists and we therefore conclude this matter is not reportable under Regulation 10CFR50.55(e). Additional information is available on site and may be

, reviewed during any inspection.
