Arkansas Nuclear One - Units 1 & 2 Docket Nos. 50-313 & 50-368 License Nos. DPR-51 & NPF-6 IE Bulletin 79-13 (Files: 1510, 2-1510)

Gentlemen:

The following is provided in response to Item 5 of your IE Bulletin 79-13.

As required b" Item 1 of the subject Bulletir., vie will perform a volumetric examination of all ANO-2 feedwater nozzle-to-piping welds and of adjacent pipe and nozzle areas. We expect to perform this examination after completion of our power ascension testing.

Item 1 is not applicable to ANO-1.

We have reviewod our emergency procedures for recognizing and re-spending to a feedwater line break accident. We have determined that both procedures (1202.24 - ANO-1 Steam Supply System Rupture and 2202.24 - ANO-2 Steam Supply System Pupture) describe the symptoms of the accident adequately and provide for verification of isolation of the affected steam generator.

Feedwater leaks in containment would be detected by level instru-mentation in the containment sump. The level instrumentation in ANO-1 can detect as little as 50 gallons of water in the sump. The level instrumentation in ANO-2 can detect as little as 45 gallons of water in the sump.

Very truly yours, b Cand (. Y . m a nn David C. Trimble '
