Dear Mr. Keppler:

In accordance with Region III's request, Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. (PSI) hereby submits additional clarification with respect to Velan valve weights. In the course of investigating Bulletin 79-04, PSI identified three (3) sets of Velan globe valves that showed incorrect weights. It has been further determined that these are the only Velan valves with incorrect weights listed on the drawings. The three sets are:

The formal piping analysis associated with the piping systems containing these valves has not been performed for Marble Hill. When such analysis is done, correct weights will be incorporated in the PIPSYS Computer Code. In all cases, the piping and support stresses will be kept within allowable limits per ASME Section III.
