MEETING

SUMMARY

FOR REGULATORY CONFERENCE On July 13, 2010, representatives of Northern States Power Company (Xcel Energy), the licensee for Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2, met with U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) personnel in the Region III office located in Lisle, Illinois, to discuss the apparent violation identified in NRC Inspection Report 05000282/2010-010; 050000306/2010010. The regulatory conference was held at the request of the licensee.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a potentially greater-than-green item regarding the protection of safety-related systems following a turbine building flood.

The licensee discussed Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plants licensing and design basis for internal flooding, along with a discussion of their understanding of licensing commitments. The licensee also presented their significance determination evaluation along with corrective actions that will be implemented to improve the station. The licensees position was that Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant remained in compliance with all NRC regulations regarding high energy line breaks and internal flooding.

The attendance list is attached to this summary. Also, a copy of the licensees slides presented during the conference can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML101890903.
